Across the nation, the number of people having plastic surgery is increasing dramatically in large part from people who are attempting to minimize the effects of aging. For example, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery has stated that, in 2009 alone, there were over 10 million plastic surgery procedures done in the USA. A lot of this increase is because of technology advances that have increased efficiency and made surgical techniques safer, more affordable, and more convenient than ever. Also, many people in our society are dissatisfied with their body image, with one survey showing that 56 percent of American women are not satisfied with their overall appearance, and 34 percent with their breast size. With the baby boomer generation just now starting to realize that plastic surgery can sometimes fight aging in a way that extensive exercise cannot, the numbers will surely continue to grow. It is also becoming common knowledge that the impact of an improved appearance on self confidence can greatly enhance business and social relationships. If you decide that you want plastic surgery, you need to be realistic in your expectations and not be too disappointed if you find that what you want is not really possible due to the underlying structure of your body. Before you undergo any type of cosmetic surgery, there are some questions you will need to ask of yourself and your potential surgeon to make sure this decision is right for you. It is also important that you are as well informed as you can be in case you have to make a decision as it is better to make an informed decision rather than a guess. There will always be risks in any surgery, but the technology has advanced rapidly in the last few years and procedures are much safer, so the benefits would seem to outweigh the risks involved. Keep in mind that an improvement in your appearance is a benefit that you will always have with you for years to come. I have checked and found there are several plastic surgery clinics to choose from and you should find several in your area also. |
