A mini facelift covers less ground than the traditional procedures, but offers dramatic results for men and women just starting to experience signs of aging on the lower face. Actually, the method is least invasive as problem areas are still small and only require minimal incisions around the eyes or hairline. Again, the typical candidate for this is a man or woman in their 30s or 40s seeking to tighten up and smooth out trouble spots around the chin, nose and mouth. In a traditional procedure, areas of the face are cut, re-sculpted and sewn back together to fight signs of mild to severe aging. The incisions can extend to the front of ear into the back or even venture into the hairline in more extreme cases. It is invasive to the point that it often requires general anesthesia and it takes three to ten days for the patient to recover. However, the mini facelift is much faster and smoother, as the cosmetic surgeon will only need to make three or so small incisions around trouble areas. The doctor then enters these incisions with special instruments to remove excess fat and reshape the muscles, thus creating a more youthful and toned look. And as mentioned before, because there is significantly less cutting, scarring or bruising, as well as the overall recovery time is significantly less with a mini facelift. Even more attractive for those considering this is the dramatic difference in cost between the two procedures. A traditional one is generally an out-of-pocket expense of $6500. This includes anesthesia, blood work and the physician's fees. However, with the new procedure, a beautiful face can be obtained for half the cost, as the average price is about $3500 in the United States. And it can provide dramatic results just one office visit. But, it may not be right for everyone. Those who are beyond 40 and suffering the results of serious aging may need the more invasive techniques. Furthermore, a mini-facelift only addresses problem areas on the lower face. For this reason, individuals looking to lift the eyes or trouble spots on the forehead and scalp area may need to seek the more traditional approach to accomplish such goals. And while a full-facelift may be better for certain conditions or possibly required anyway down the road, it's nice to know that a person can visit the doctor on their lunch break and leave with a beautiful face with virtually no pain or scarring. It's a revolutionary technology for those that are conscious of their looks; yet do not have the luxury or finances to spend days or weeks out of work attempting to recover from a facial procedure. |
