Different Types Of Plastic Surgery

Different Types of Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgery is basically a surgery involving the correction or restoration of a form or function in the body. Plastic is used here in reference to the molding and reshaping of tissues, but has no connection to plastic.

It is generally people who are not happy with their outer appearance who undergo this surgery. As different people have different parts of their body that they are not happy with, they resort to cosmetic surgery to correct, reshape and restore these parts.

Types of plastic surgery

There are two types of cosmetic surgery; non-invasive and invasive surgery. The non-invasive procedures include skin resurfacing, botox and skin filler injections and hair removal through laser treatments. Invasive procedures include liposuction, tummy tucks and face lifts.

It is generally women who undergo cosmetic surgery where the most common procedures they undergo are eyelid surgery to reshape their eyelid, liposuction to remove fat from specific parts of the body, breast augmentation to lift and reshape breasts and abdominoplasty to make the abdomen firm and sturdy.

Men too do cosmetic surgery

Instead of doing only one procedure, women tend to combine various procedures at a go. Though this gives better results, they increase recovery time and its cost. Though a minority of men undergo cosmetic surgery, their rate of increase is twice that of women.

The most common non-invasive procedures they undergo include laser hair removal, botox injections and skin filler injections on the face. The common invasive procedures they undergo are nose jobs, eyelid surgery, liposuction and male breast reduction.

There has been an increase in the popularity and demand for plastic surgery over the years. However the results of the procedures vary depending on the surgeon who has performed the procedure, and the wishes of the patient. On the overall, plastic surgery is a great and easy option for one to improve their external appearance.
