Beauty tourism, travelling abroad for cosmetic and plastic surgery related reasons, has increased drastically in the world these last few years, mainly because most people find it unaffordable to do such surgeries in their home countries. In Lebanon for example, it is much less expensive to get any kind of plastic and cosmetic surgery, at the same, if not better, quality. Plastic surgery and beauty tourism has become quite the lucrative business. In most Western countries, the costs for these types of operations are huge. For example, in the United States, a nose job (rhinoplasty) can cost as much as $16 000, forcing people to take out loans and risking bankruptcy. Travelling abroad for such services is therefore, quite an attractive option, greatly reducing the costs. More and more countries all over the world are becoming renowned places of beauty tourism such as India, Brazil, the Philippines, and now Lebanon! Why Lebanon? Most of the doctors in Lebanon have nurtured their trade in renowned American universities in Lebanon (such as the American University of Beirut) or abroad in the Ivy league Colleges of the Unites States and Europe. In addition, the medical sector in Lebanon is particularly developed; the hospitals in the country have the latest and the most advanced technologies.
