Chemical Peel & Dermabrasion - Alternative to Facelift Cosmetic Surgery

Getting a facelift can cost you thousands of dollars and if the surgery is not successful it could leave you emotionally and physically scarred for life. An alternative to surgery is to use Chemical Peels or/and Dermabrasion to refresh the appearance of your skin.

Chemical Peel

Chemical Peel works by removing the outer layers of your skin giving the skin a smooth and clean look. However, they only work on superficial skin and not on the deep tissues. It cannot remove wrinkles. There are other non-surgical methods such as Botox that can reduce wrinkles but works only for a short period of time.

A chemical peel is performed by applying a liquid chemical solution to the face. The chemical solution then slowly burns off the upper layer of the skin leaving the leftover skin exposed. This will stimulate the skin to produce younger looking skin. The skin would appear younger looking, firmer and slightly pinker. The stronger the chemical, the deeper it will penetrate but the chances of scarring and infection increases. In addition, an alteration of skin color may be noticeable if the procedure is not done correctly.

Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion is another type of procedure that involves using a wire brush or a bur containing diamond particles that 'sander' the upper layer of the skin. It usually takes about 90 minutes to perform, depending how much skin they want to treat. The patient is given either local anesthetic or undergo general anesthesia.

After the sanding procedure is finished, the skin is cleaned and a dressing is applied. For the next week, the skin will be swollen and red. A scab is formed over the treated area and the skin begins it's healing process.

Dermabrasion and Chemical Peeling only takes one day to do. It is cheaper and safer option in reversing the aging process that having a surgical facelift procedure.
